ALBAWABA - PlayStation 5 owners are in for a treat this year amid the release of the State of Play yesterday Jan. 31, 2024, as many promising titles are going to hit the console including Rise of Ronin and Sonic Shadow Generations!
Today, we'll mention the best things that happened in the State of Play on Jan. 31, 2024, with a little surprise for Final Fantasy fans at the end from Square-Enix.
This Month’s State of Play is insane, Rise of Ronin, Sonic Shadow Generations, and more!
1) Rise of Ronin
Koei Tecmo showed us a glimpse of gameplay from one of PlayStation 5's most anticipated games, Rise of Ronin which included combat, traversal, open-world elements, and more! The game looks like it mixes elements from Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima and FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadow's Die Twice.
Additionally, Koei mixed in stunning cinematics with the gameplay for fans to get a grip on what's the story like. We can't wait to glide around Rise of Ronin's open world on March 22, 2024!
2) Helldivers 2
A sequel to a slept-on game! step into the battlefield with friends and go against Mechs, aliens, monsters, and tons of explosions!
Helldivers 2 will offer a 4-play coop experience and looks like it will be a horde-type game where players will drop into a location and survive against hordes of enemies, similar to Deep Rock Galactic and some Warhammer games but in Third-person.
Play Helldivers 2 on Feb. 8, 2024, when it hits PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Windows.
3) Sonic Shadow Generations
Sonic Generations is back but with a surprise guest, Shadow the Hedgehog at last! The game will drop in the Autumn of 2024 and seems to mix modern and classic gameplay elements by changing camera angles between 3D and 2.5D. Players will be able to play both Sonic and Shadow in the upcoming title.
As weird as it sounds, PlayStation 2's Shadow the Hedgehog was one of our favorite titles on the console because of how ridiculous it was seeing Shadow shooting a gun.
4) Dragon's Dogma 2
Dragon's Dogma 2 is nearly within reach as fans of the beloved predecessor wait patiently to dive into the sequel's world on March 22, 2024. From the gameplay Capcom showcased over the years, the title is bringing several new things into the JRPG scene like an overhauled buddy system, better gameplay elements, new classes, and upgraded graphics.
Dragon's Dogma 2 might be our most anticipated game of the year!
5) Silent Hill 2 Remake
People are not loving the new Silent Hill 2 Remake as some users referred to it as a "slightly better Kickstarter project" because of the janky gameplay and movement. The developers seem to have taken an action-based combat style which defeats the whole purpose of what a Silent Hill game should be.
All in all, we still believe that the game could do great, only if they make adjustments on the points mentioned above because Bloober Team nailed the mood and theme of the game.
7) Death Stranding 2 coming 2025
Kojima's Amazon delivery simulator is set to get a sequel in 2025 under the name of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Hideo Kojima took to the State of Play cameras and announced the game by showcasing a stunning cinematic that features new weird yet interesting characters.
8) More Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on February 6
(Square-Enix / Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth)
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is blessing JRPG fans soon as Square-Enix showcased more gameplay and story elements in this month's State of Play and added a surprise at the end that the developers will be showcasing even more of the game on February 6!
Rebirth looks even bigger and better than its predecessor and fans are in for a treat as Square-Enix might change parts of the story according to some leaks going around social media platforms such as X (formerly known as Twitter).
