Egyptian singer Mohammed Munir is preparing to shoot his new basketball-influenced film, 24 Seconds, scripted by Abdel Fattah Al Biltaji and directed by Saad Hindawi. Actress Muna Zaki has been nominated to costar in the film along with Munir.
Biltaji told the daily Al Gumhouriyyah that Munir had reviewed the script and become enthusiastic about taking the starring role, provided that the shooting began in early October.
“The film’s title, 24 Seconds, is a term used in basketball, meaning the team cannot hold onto the ball for more than 24 seconds. The film here means that some people may face big crises, in which time plays an extremely important role, after which these people may obtain what they want or lose very important things. This is how the film’s title was picked,” added Biltaji.
The scenarist said, “My latest work was on the film Amir Al Zalam (Prince of Darkness), whose script was not credited to me, but to Tamer Abdel Mine’m. The fact is that I was the writer and collaborated on the scenario with Tamer Abdel Mine’m. I wrapped up writing last Ramadan and held many meetings with the renowned actor Adel Imam, who was convinced of the value of the scenario only after it had been rewritten for the fourth time.”
