Egyptian actor Mervat Amin has given her final approval to star in the  new television drama "Tifil Fi Al Zinzanah" (A Child in Prison),  produced by 'Al Patros,' the same company producing her current  television drama "Ahzan Maryam" (Maryam's Saddness).

According to the London based Elaph, Mervat will begin filming the new drama in July.

Actors Summaya Al Khashab and Mai Izz El Din will costar alongside Mervat in the new drama, directed by Wael Ihsan and written by journalist Nawal Mustafa. Nawal has been reporting on imprisoned pregnant women, forced to deliver their babies in jail, which inspired her to write the drama.

Mervat said that she plays the role of a female prisoner, and that the drama revolves around children who are born in prison to convicted  mothers, their future and how society views at them.  She did not reveal the names of her male co-stars.

So far Mervat has declined all offers to star in films, stating that she has yet to be offered an adequate role that will preserve "the image she has worked so hard to create since the beginning of her career."

The actor stressed that her focus on television dramas is not a substitute for the cinema, adding that all of the dramas she has starred in have augmented her career.
