Ever since Lebanese singer Melissa entered the world of music she had many question marks surrounding her. Starting with the strange resemblance between her and Lebanese singer Elissa in looks and her voice when she sings she also had question marks around the problem she’s facing in her personal life and ending up with her duet with the international singer Dr. Alban.
According to the London daily Elaph Melissa did not just become a singer overnight, but rather she started singing ever since she was seven years old. In an interview Melissa stated that it is very easy for a new comer to the music industry to reach the top due to the many music satellite channels around, but remaining on tope is the big challenge.
Melissa is sick of hearing how people keep comparing her to Elisa; she states that the name doesn’t make the person an artist only his/her ability to sing does.
Melissa just had a duet with the international singer Dr. Alban, where she was introduced to him by her friend composer Jan Saliba in Sweden. They both liked the idea working together on a duet after Dr. Alban had heard a song for Melissa composed by Jan Saliba and distributed by Hadi Sharara. However, there is a rumor that Dr. Alban only agreed to work with Melissa, because he got a large payment for doing so! Melissa is also preparing for another international work.
Melissa only sang six words thought the song, where they were repeated over and over. She justifies the repeating of the same line by singing a dancing song. She says that the focus was on the dancing part.
Melissa previous name was Merriam, and she changed it because she thought Merriam would not gain her as much popularity as Melissa. She made clear that she had no plastic surgeries before entering the music business; however she might think of it in the future.
Melissa refused to talk about her personal life and her divorce. She also denied that she wore the hijab (Muslim head dress for females) before. She made clear that her sister Huda is the one who wore it and since there is so much resemblance between the two sisters people thought she is the one who did.
