Nineteen-year old Egyptian actress Maya Sheeha, the youngest of the four Sheeha stars, Hala, Hana, and Rasha, has recently announced that she’s planning to quit acting and wear the headscarf. The decision came after the young actress held long talks with her father Ahmad Sheeha and her sister Hala.

According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Maya’s decision to quit acting came after she felt the time is right to end her acting career and devote herself to God and Islam.

Maya was previously rumored to have made the decision to quit acting but she strongly denied the rumors saying, “religious issues always stay between God and the person himself. All rumors are lies and I didn’t even think of wearing the headscarf and quit acting,” adding that she only gave “Asrar al Banat” (Girls’s Secrets) in her acting portfolio to the Egyptian cinema and her trip in acting hadn’t started yet.

“I won’t deny that at a certain time I was so close to God and had many thoughts about life and the Judgment Day, but I didn’t think about the headscarf ever,” Maya said, explaining that she’s not against doing what God has asked us for. “Wearing the headscarf is exactly like marriage; it’s a lifetime commitment that you have to be convinced with, or then it won’t work.”

Earlier in February, Maya has secured a special appreciation certificate from the jury of the Golden Jubilee Egyptian Catholic Film Festival for her debut in “Asrar al Banat”. Maya said that she “was accidentally chosen by director Magdi Ahmed when the role didn’t fit my sister Hana.” – Albawaba.com
