Prominent Kuwaiti actress Mariam Ghadban has passed away at age 56 after being ill for some time and struggling in hospital. The death of Mariam shocked Kuwait and saddened everyone from the entertainment world, after the late actress had given so much of her life to the acting world.
According to the Kuwaiti based daily, Al Qabas, Mariam was one of the founders of the Kuwaiti theater and starred in some of the most popular plays that the Arab world witnessed. Mariam and her colleague Mariam Al Salah were the first two women in Kuwait to stand on a theater stage and open the gateway for all Kuwaiti women to seek an acting career.
Ghadban’s first professional play was back in the early 60s in the play “Saqr Kuraish”, as well as taking part in numerous television and radio shows as an actress and a director, along with being a member of the Kuwaiti Association of Artists. Mariam, known by the name of Hababa, received numerous awards for her acting achievements and was honored at several festivals. –Albawaba.com
