The prominent Lebanese singer Marcel Khalifa opened the eighth session of Rabat International Festival which is dubbed as Palestine Session.
Khalifa performed a musical and singing show entitled Mudaaba (dallying) along with al Mayadeen Quartet Troupe and singer Omaimah al Khalil. The audience interacted very much with Khalifa’s impassioned songs, according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
As part of the festival which was launched on July 6 and will continue until July 25, the Iraqi singer Kathem al Saher performed a successful concert that was attended by thousands of admirers at Prince Mawlay Abdulla’s sports compound.
The Lebanese singer Bascal Mashalani will also perform a concert next Sunday at Tazi Palace. An honoring festivity will be held for Ali al Haddani, the Moroccan renowned lyrical poet who wrote the most successful Moroccan songs such as Yak Ya Jorhi by Naema Samih and Qitar al Hayat (life train) by Abdel Hadi Balkhayyat who will participate in the celebration. This is in addition to singer Mohammed Ghawi, Mohammed Essam and singer Merriam Hilal.
A Moroccan feature will be held on July 19 in which five female singers from the Arab Maghreb will take part including Nuzhah al Shaabawi from Morocco, Wahiba Mahdi from Algeria, Maaloumah Bint al Midah from Mauritania, Salmeen al Zrouq from Libya and Alia Baleid from Tunisia.
The festival will be concluded with the “Moroccan Folklore Night” by the most renowned folk troupes including Ahmed and Mousa, Kanawah, Banan and al Dakkah Moroccan troupes -- Albawaba.com
