Prominent Lebanese diva Majida Al Roumi has finally returned after her long absence to shed joy in the hearts of thousands of fans at a special charity concert, from which all proceeds went directly to the American University in Beirut.
The proceeds will be distributed in the form of scholarships.
At the concert the audience waited with great anticipation to hear Majida perform. She surprised everyone by singing five songs from her upcoming album, her first in the past seven years.
Majida’s upcoming album is scheduled for release in the near future. The singer collaborated with some of the best composers like Milhim Barakat, Elli Shuwairi, Abd Al Rab Idrees, Marwan Khouri, Nizar Frances, and Jan Marie Riashi.
During an interview with Reuters news agency, Majida expressed confidence in the success of her upcoming album, stating that the songs in it have “true value.” She stressed that it is different from the trend of albums released today.
Majida also stated that she hopes people’s reaction towards her new songs will be positive.
Reuters described Majida as one of the true Arab music icons. She was the first Arab singer to receive a platinum record award.
Recently, Majida began filming a new music video for the song “Shoof” (Look) under the direction of Lebanese director Nadine Libky.
The new album was scheduled for release at the end of August, however Majida felt it is best to delay the release due to the situation in the Arab world.
Despite the delayed release, the singer launched the music video for the feature song “Love and Loyalty.” The clip, directed by Saeed Al Marouq, first aired exclusively on the Lebanese Broadcasting Company (LBC) television satellite station, and then on other music channels.
