ALBAWABA - Maguy Bou Ghosn leads a highly anticipated series for Ramadan audiences.
Lebanese star Maguy Bou Ghosn continues to solidify her position as one of the most prominent actresses in Arab drama. Her name has become synonymous with the Ramadan season, thanks to her amazing ability to trend and dominate search engines as soon as a new project is revealed. With the countdown to Ramadan 2026 started, Bou Ghosn has once again grabbed attention with the promotional video for her highly awaited series, "Bil Haram" (Forbidden), which sparked social media from the moment it was released.
This mass participation builds on Bou Ghosn's successful career in recent Ramadan seasons, which has included works that have become Arab drama milestones. Her most noteworthy series include "Awlad Adam" (Sons of Adam), the "Lil Mawt" (For Death) trilogy, "Ala Amal" (A Hopeful), and "Bil Dam" (With Blood). This year, she returns with a new project that she hopes will be successful both artistically and popularly.

"Bil Haram" is a social and human drama presented in a striking fashion that discusses serious themes based on ordinary life. The novel takes place in a world where power, money, desire, and sin collide, and it follows a diverse array of characters whose secrets and linked relationships are gradually revealed as the plot progresses.
The series delves deeply into its protagonists' psychological and moral conflicts, presenting captivating stories full of surprises that reflect contemporary society's crises and the harsh tests they face in the struggle between right and wrong.
Maguy Bou Ghosn plays the role of "Joud," alongside a stellar cast of Lebanese actors, including Tony Issa (Maher), Sarah Abi Kanaan (Zeina), Elsa Zgheib (Sarah), Takla Chamoun (Sabah), Bassem Moughnieh (Farid), Wissam Sabbagh, Cynthia Karam (Alia), Nadia Charbel (Nai), Elie Mitri (Ryan), Tarek Tamim (Tanios), Magdi Machmouchi, Randa Kaadi (Najwa), Carole Abboud (Hadeel), and Ammar Chalak (Malik).
Maguy Bou Ghosn continues to work with producer Jamal Sinan's Eagle Films on "Bil Haram" and renews her artistic cooperation with director Philip Asmar. Fadi Hussein and Shadi Kiwan wrote the 30-episode series, which will air throughout Ramadan on MBC Shahid and MTV.
Maguy Bou Ghosn accompanied the trailer release with an intriguing statement: "A mirror doesn't disclose the truth... it exposes it!" The 'Bil Haram' series will air in Ramadan 2026."
Reactions rapidly came in. One fan commented, "Bold acting, painful honesty... not because the scene is unpleasant, but because the feeling is genuine. Here, art is exhibited not for display, but to express something and create an impression." Another fan expressed, "Eagle Films consistently elevates their standards each year, ensuring the success of any project Maguy Bou Ghosn is involved in." Begin preparing the rewards.
The MBC Shahid platform has joined the discourse, claiming that the series "will exceed all expectations" and promoting it through teaser posts, such as "This smile hides a thousand pains…" "What are the stars of 'Bil Haram' hiding from us?" "On stage, everything seems to be acting..." The most harmful secrets, however, are hidden beyond the curtain.
The release of the series' posters triggered a surge of curiosity due to their enigmatic visual design, which was influenced by the circus world. In an interview with ET Bil Arabi, Maguy Bou Ghosn noted that, while the title may appear frightening, it does not convey a harsh message, noting that "Bil Haram" is a family-oriented work that poses provocative topics within a thoroughly researched humanistic framework.
She went on to say that the circus has symbolic importance because, as she defines it, life is like a circus; everyone walks a tightrope, either maintaining their balance or falling and injuring themselves or others.
Elie Khater, the concept's creator, claimed that the circus depicts society, with each performer performing their duty amidst constant risk as the audience watches on, reflecting societal pressures and prejudices. He also pointed out that the recurring clown character, who appears in many guises, represents the protagonists' inner inconsistencies.
Costume designer George Saqim explained that the posters and opening sequence were created in a Victorian vintage style influenced by the circus, with a carefully selected color palette that gives each character their own distinct personality within a unified visual approach.
In terms of the cast, Ammar Chalak plays Malik, a lawyer whose journey connects with the majority of the characters in a complex web of ties, whilst Bassem Moughnieh likes to keep the character of Farid mysterious, describing him as full of paradoxes.
Randa Kaadi portrays Margaret (Margot), describing her as unpredictable and fluctuating between good and evil. Takla Chamoun plays Sabah, a significant character who utilizes her influence to unearth the truth, underlining that everyone has a "dark spot" in their background.
Between ambiguity, artistic symbolism, and dark comedy, "Bil Haram" stands out as one of the most anticipated Ramadan shows of 2026. It provides a unique societal commentary that inspires debate and leaves the final decision to the viewer, in a dramatic experience that is as much about human depth as suspense.
Eagle Films has officially announced a contract with Lebanese star Wael Kfoury to sing the theme song for the series "Bil Haram," which will be broadcast on MBC Shahid and MTV Lebanon.
This is Kfoury's first cooperation with the company following a vacation from performing television series theme music. The project is highly awaited by spectators because of the artist's romantic style and voice, which have become synonymous with successful Arab dramas.
The series' theme song, "Shu Nater" (What Are You Waiting For), is currently in production and will be released alongside the series' promotional campaign. In a partnership that includes some of the biggest names in the Arab music industry, poet Ali Mawla wrote the words, Salah Kurdi composed the music, and artist Taim arranged it.
