Mafia part II substitutes Turkish actress for Mona Zaki
The cast and crew of the Egyptian film “Mafia” have come together to begin working on the sequel “Mafia II”. Part one, which costarred Egyptian actor Ahmed Al Saqqa and actress Mona Zaki, has received such a huge success that the directors and producers decided on creating a continuation in the hope it will be as successful. The only difference in “Mafia II” is that Mona was not chosen as the part of the cast and is replaced with a new Turkish actress who perfects the Arabic language.
According to the London based Elaph, Al Saqqa denied any rumors of a dispute with Mona and the cast and crew of the movie, saying the only reason she was replaced is that the new role calls for a different character than that of Mona. Scenes for the new movie will be shot in Turkey and other countries rather than in Europe.
Mafia, an Egyptian movie ambitious enough to be rated with Hollywood productions. A movie covering different aspects of the current political situations around the world, with an outstanding mirror image to reality. The story has a major emphasis on nationalism as an ideology.
Al-Saqqa (playing the role of Hussein Amin) has been put in the precarious situation of having to choose between loyalty to his country and joining an anti-Egypt group. Hussein, who’s been living abroad for sometime, through which his national identity has been wavered. Convinced to join a terrorist group, for which he agrees to fly back to Egypt to accomplish the mark setout. Wheels turn as patriotism for his nation intensifies, as he turns his back on the terrorist group. A must see movie, where suspense and action take part in this exceptionally directed movie.
Directed by Shareef Arafeh. The film starred Egyptian actor Ahmad Al Saqa playing Hussein, and costarred Muna Zaki, and Moustafa Sha'ban.
On another note, last September, Zaki refused to star in a Lebanese production movie to be directed by Lebanese Rami Ayyash. "The movie's theme is excellent (talking about the Arab unity) and it conveys a great message to all the generations in the Arab World. But I'm a married woman and the movie includes few hugging and kissing scenes, which I cannot accept as the director did not want to delete them," Zaki commented on the movie then. – Albawaba.com
