The Egyptian Media Broadcasting Company has decided to nominate Lebanese singer/actress Nicole Saba for the leading role in the upcoming television drama “Al Farashat Yahtariqn” (Burning Buterflies) instead of Egyptian actress Jala Fahmi. Direction was also given to director Atef Al Bakri instead of Ali Badrkhan, who had apologized for not being able to direct the drama due to the problems it had been facing.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Nicole has given her initial acceptance for the role and is currently reading the script. Shooting of the scenes is scheduled to begin in the very near future.
Despite the big wave of criticism that arose after her first experience in acting, Saba decided to release her first musical album without her original group [The Four Cats]. Nicole revealed that she is not a singer but rather a performer, which means that she only sings songs that go with her vocal abilities. She also describes her voice as warm and without any dissonance adding that Lebanese singers Alissa and Nawal Al Zoughbi do the same thing and they don’t belong to the old school of singing and only count on fast tunes that make people dance.
About her cooperation with producer Muhsin Jabr, Nicole said that it was by chance when she met him in an event and he told her that he was looking for new talents and then she sang for him and he liked her voice very much deciding to produce her first album.
Nicole had started from scratch stressing that all international singers had hard times before they became celebrities and she is not an exception. Nicole sees that she made herself more known since she left the Four Cats, because at that time she was one of a team and was not the center of the attention. She added that if any of the girls want to leave the band no one would care because another girl will soon come to fill in. but now she had her own album and her own fans and no one could replace her. –Albawaba.com
