Egyptian lawyer Nabeeh Al Wahish is suing Syrian actor Abbas Al Nouri, one of the leading stars of the Syrian drama series “Bab Al Hara,” (The Neighborhood Gate) for defaming Egyptian actors.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, president of the Egyptian Artists Union, Ashraf Zaki is investigating the matter.
Ashraf Al Wahish filed the suit after Al Nouri sharply criticized Egyptian actors and their ability to act, adding that they are conceded and look down upon other actors.
Al Nouri also said that Egyptian actors are angered by the success of their Syrian counterparts.
Meanwhile, Al Nouri is filming a new historical television drama series about the life of Abbasid khalefah Abu Ja’far Al Mansour (who is a well-known historical figure from the time of Prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him). The series, called “Abu Ja’far Al Mansour” is directed by Shawqi Al Majri from Tunisia. The Arabic Center for the DEF in Jordan is producing the series to be aired during Ramadan.
The series revolves around the khalefah, played by Al Nouri, during his rule and up to his death while he was on his way to Hajj (Muslim pilgrim to Mecca).
The series also stars Jordanian actors Muther Rayahneh, Eyad Nasar, Fayez Qazq, Hani Al Romani, Julet Awad, Jameel Awad, Nabeel Al Mashini, Abeed Issa, Abed Al Kareem Qawasmi, Nariman Abed Al Kareem, Sohail Joba’ie, and Anwar Khalil.
