After a five-year break from television, Egyptian actress Laila Ulwi is preparing to costar in a television series based on the writings of Nobel Prize-winning writer Najeeb Mahfouze.
She will play alongside Farouq Al Fishawi in the series Hadith Assabah (Morning Speech), making her first TV appearance since the series Attawam (The Twins).
Mohsen Zayed wrote the screenplay based on Mahfouze’s works; the shooting will begin next August, and the series will be aired next Ramadan.
The four-part series will deal with the social changes that took place in Egyptian society between the end of the eighteenth century and the 1990s.
Ulwi plays the character Huda Hanem, an aristocratic lady who gets married to Atta Al Rakibi, a shoemaker, despite her parents’ objections.
Costarring in the series are Abla Kamel, Dalal Abdel Aziz, Kamal Abu Rayyah, Samah Anwar and Majedah Zaki.
The director of the series, Ahmed Sager, told the daily Al Akhbar, “I’ll begin shooting the series after wrapping up the film Concerto Ashitaa Al Akhir (Concerto of Last Winter) costarring Nilly Karim, Fathi Abdel Wahhab, Ahmed Khalil and Nihal Anbar.”
Sager confirmed that he was still committed to his agreement with the writer Osama Anwar Ukasha, under which he will shoot the third part of the series Zeezinia, which Ukasha has not yet written, and also the series Al Aswar (The Fences) for Yusri Al Jundi – Albawaba.com
