Prominent Egyptian actress Laila Elwi has set a condition that she will not accept less than half a million Egyptian pounds to play the leading role in the upcoming film “That Al Matar” (Under the Rain,) alongside young Egyptian actor Ahmad Izz.

The actress stressed that unless the film makers meet her demand, she will not accept the role.

Laila is currently filming the scenes of her upcoming drama “Nour Al Sabah” (Morning Light), scheduled to air during the holy month of Ramadan.

Laila plays the role of a woman who is faced with a divorce and must drastically change her life to be able to support herself.

The drama is written by Majdi Sabri and directed by Sameer Saif.

On a similar note, Egyptian screenplay writer Mohammed Safa Amer announced that he reached an agreement with Laila for her to play the leading role of “Qamar” in his upcoming television drama “Hada’eq Al Shaitan” (The Devil’s Garden).

Safa revealed that he wrote the role of “Qamar” especially for Laila, stressing that it is impossible for any other actress to play the part.

Laila’s character goes through four different phases, each with a unique look.

Prominent Egyptian actor Yousef Shabaan will play the leading male protagonist, the evil “Munther,” who sets his designs on destroying “Qamar.” As the drama progresses, Qamar seeks vengeance against him.
