Laila Elwi denies secret marriage

Prominent Egyptian actor Laila Elwi has denied recent circulating rumors that she was secretly married.  If she were to marry she would proudly publicly announce it, said Laila.


Laila questioned why she has been accused of such an act, when it is well known that she is an open person with nothing to hide.


Previously rumors were circulating in the entertainment world claiming that Laila is considering resigning from her acting career after facing numerous problems. Laila had been avoiding the media, refusing to hold interviews or make public appearances.


Despite the rumors, Laila is currently filming the final scenes of her upcoming television drama "Nour El Sabah" (Morning Light).


The actor has been nominated for a leading role in the new film "Al Ahramat Biloun Al Mafia" (The Pyramids in the Color of the Mafia), a joint Egyptian - Swedish production, alongside internationally well-known star John Paltro.


The film revolves around the destruction of historical monuments in Egypt, and the life of a woman, played by Laila, who comes to Egypt seeking the remains of her lost lover who died during WWII.  She has yet to accept the role.
