The second West Asian Games Championships were opened in Kuwait with the operetta Lan Ansa (We Will Not Forget) written by poet Abdel Latif al Bannay and composed by Anwar Abdulla , according the Kuwaiti daily al Rai al A’m.
The operetta was performed by Kuwaiti singers: Abdel Karim Abdel Qader, Nabil Sha’el and Abdulla al Rweished.
The operetta included seven acts, the first entitled Kuwait which was performed by three singers, followed by the act Palestine sung by Abdulla Ruwaished and expressing the scene in which the Palestinian child Mohammed al Dorrah was killed as martyr.
The third was about Sabra and Shatilla massacre in Lebanon sung by Nabil Shua’il while the forth act was about the Iraqi invasion and the liberation of Kuwait sung by Abdel Karim Abdel Qader. The sixth act was A’wdat al Asir (POW Return) in which Hayat al Fahed played the role as a mother of a prisoner of war while Shua’il was singing.
The operetta was concluded with the act Kuwaituna (Our Kuwait) performed by all the stars under the direction of Mohammed Saud al Mutairi.
The audience’s interaction was clear as silence prevailed in the hall with some of the viewers shedding tears when they saw the scenes which the Zionists’ oppression and terrorism.
The concert was attended by the Kuwaiti Minister of Information Ahmed al Fahed al Sabah and the general director of Youth and Sports Commission, Fahed Jaber al Ahmed al Sabah in addition to a large number of artists -- Albawaba.com
