Kuwaiti series causes controversy over its sensitive topics

ALBAWABA - Ramadan 2024 is rich with controversial series that have been the talk of social media, some considered inappropriate to be in Ramadan, with the latest being the Kuwaiti series Zawja Waheda La Takfi (زوجة واحدة لا تكفي).

Kuwaitis took to X (formerly Twitter) to complain about the latest Ramadan series Zawja Waheda La Takfi (One wife isn't enough) saying it doesn't represent Kuwaiti traditions and ethics.

Many online have also labeled offensive to the Kuwaiti community. A person wrote: "Do the producers of this work convey reality? Or are they creating a new reality through which they aim to attack the value system? Is it just blind imitation without appreciating the negative effects it may have?"

The Kuwaiti series has been broadcast on the MBC channel and its Shahid platform since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. The cast of the series are both Kuwaiti and Egyptian stars, including Huda Hussein, Nour Al-Ghandour, Maged El Masry, and Ayten Amer. The work is written by Heba Mishari Hamada, and directed by Ali Al-Ali.

The plot of Zawja Waheda La Takfi revolves around marital infidelity and various social relationships, witnessed continuous criticism online, with some Kuwaitis describing it with phrases such as "the height of decadence, profanity and dirty language."
