The opening ceremony of the sixth Kuwaiti Theatrical Festival was held Monday, at which actor Ghanem al Saleh called for one minute of silence in solidarity with the Palestinians people.
Secretary general of Kuwait’s National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters Mohammed al Rumeihi made the remarks as he was speaking on behalf of information minister Sheikh Ahmad al Fahd al Ahmad al Sabah, at the inauguration of the festival due to last for nine days, according to the Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA).
Al Rumeihi affirmed Kuwait’s keenness to make its cultural events as forums for Arab culture and intellectuals.
He said that Sheikh Ahmad wanted to attend the ceremony but was busy with the donations campaign in solidarity with Palestinians.
Several Kuwaiti plays will be shown at the festival, including The Detention Camp of the Rulers), al Amoud and The Heart of the Lantern – Albawaba.com
