Amidst a swarm of journalists in Cairo, prominent Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher singed a contract to make a commercial for the mobile company Iraqna, owned by Egyptian tycoon Najeeb Sweiris. During the press conference Kathem revealed that he has established “Kathem El Saher…Iraqna,” a charitable organization which aims to provide support toting the families of prisoners of war, widows, sick children, and orphans.

According to the London based daily, Dar Al Hayat, the organization will build a a school, an orphanage, and a vocational center. Iraqna has vowed to donate 0.10 USD from every prepaid Iraqna card sold to the organization.

Iraq is at a point where it needs all of the help it can get to rebuild its society, making it a safe and stable country, Kathem explained. He was inspired to take part in the television commercial by his joy over the introduction of sophisticated information technology into Iraq, which was not present during the reign of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.

Kathem recently completed the filming of two new music videos, one for the song “Ashko Ayaman” from his latest album, and the second for the song “Hadid Kaser,” which he released thirteen years ago.

Kathem’s new album is witnessing significant success among fans around the Arab world who were anxiously awaiting an album that defines the true meaning of music.
