Iraqi singer Kathem Al Saher recently was in Cairo-Egypt for the renewal of his contract with Rotana Music Production Company for an additional three years. The agreement was signed in the presence of Hazem Abd Al A'al, Rotana's Cairo office General Manager. Kathem's signing of the agreement came amongst rumors that he was planning to stop working with Rotana, saying that through this company he has gained a huge success in the Arab world and abroad and would never consider working with anyone else.

According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Kathem expressed his appreciation to Saudi Prince Waleed Bin Talal for his generous contributions to Rotana. The contributions of the Prince not only helped Rotana, but also gave hope to all the singers that work with it.

In addition, the Iraqi singer is working on the final touched of recording his upcoming album that consists of ten songs set to release in the next couple of months. Most of the recording took place in the United States of America. Kathem chose a number of poems by some of the most prominent Arab poets such as Nizar Qabani, Dr. Mani'e Said Al Otaibeh, Iraqi poet Kathem Al Saidi, and Egyptian Farouq Jouideh.

The Iraqi singer released his previous album last year in June entitled “Qissat Habibain” (two lovers story). In this album he offers 12 songs that cover all forms of sung words including poem, Mawwal and pop song.

“I recorded 24 songs written by prominent poets and I had to select 12 only, which was a very difficult task. Ultimately my choice was right and I am very happy with this album for its quick success,” Saher said.

Frequently, the singer finds “composing pop songs more difficult than poems. This is due to the fact that a poem and beautiful words bring pleasure and relaxation. Here comes creativity but the difficulty in a pop song lies in the need for it to be simple in order to reach people and be close to their souls.”

Saher reiterates that he has always been calling for love and not for breaking away. He said, “I am a constant lover who search for humanitarian topics. The poem “Two Lovers” is completely new in everything and its content is different. It is a sweet song written by Karim al Iraqi and depicts the care of a woman for her lover even if they differ or depart from each other.” - Albawaba.com
