The Lebanese Karakalla Dance Troupe will open Baalabak International Festivals with its magnificent opera show Alfa Laila wa Laila (Arabian Nights), for three days at Jupiter Temple Stadium of Baalbak Antiquity Fortress.
Karakalla performance was based on the Arabian Nights and immersed deeply in the spiritualism of the Far East inspiring the music and costumes of the country of Sind and India.
In conformity with the Sun City location the last scene of the show was devoted for Baalbak and its international festival and so it carried Lebanese heritage fingerprints in the forms folk portraits.
Joseph Azar, participant in the show, told the Arabic daily al Anwar, “the show is characterized with absolute aestheticism including direction, wardrobes, set and dancing. It is an integrated and new production of its type in Lebanon because it is close to opera performance and rhythmic poetry. Faisal Mattar did very well in his dialogue Ons al Wujood while Tawfiq al Basha did well in cadences.”
He added, “Dancing is dominant in the show while the last scene is Lebanese in nature and identity which in consistence with the Lebanese features on Baalabak amphitheaters” -- Albawaba.com
