Egyptian veteran actor Kamal El Shinawi is in a state of rage after he was informed that his recent series, Al A’ila Wal Nas (Family and People), will not be included in this year’s Ramadan lineup.

According to Al Nujoum magazine, the actor has released a statement saying “I am not looking for more fame, but it hurts me that the official Higher Media Committee’s has chosen to remove and accept certain programs without giving a proper reason for either; although when a series is rejected, it is automatically thought of as ‘not up to standard.’”

“Such a verdict violates the work of all those who were involved with the ‘rejected’ project. The judges should have watched the series before rejecting it,” Shinawi added.

The actor also said “this series, which was ready for release a while back, was postponed under the pretense that it was reserved for the Ramadan season on the basis that it is an exceptional piece of work.”

“The film was then placed in the Maspiro library of Egypt Television for six months,” he explained.

“However, we were all surprised when it was completely removed from the lineup in a manner that is not right. It is sad that they actually replaced this finalized work with a series that has not even finished shooting yet,” he said.

According to the actor, “the series was marketed all over the Arab world and it is not a private production. In fact, the production company ‘Sawt Al Qahira,’ affiliated with the Television and Radio Union, is responsible for the project.” – Albawaba.com.
