Japanese woman 'marries' Kiryu Kazuma from Yakuza video game
According to Dexerto, the 25-year-old woman didn't legally "marry" a cardboard cutout of Kiryu. The ceremony was held as part of a Like a Dragon event that allowed fans to "marry" their favorite characters from the popular mafia video game for a fee.
The event was held to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary, and fans getting "married" to their favorite Yakuza character was part of it. Japanese game developer RGG Studio and publisher Sega featured 11 life-sized main characters in the event for fans to "marry" and take pictures with.
The developer and publisher went all out by also featuring a real wedding hall where the life-sized characters were placed.
According to Automaton, for fans to take a wedding photo with their favorite character, they had to shell out money for the event's premium "Special Wedding Experience Package."
The report also added that the chosen fans get a private room and their own hair and makeup artist. They can also invite up to 10 guests to attend the "wedding" ceremony.
