Egyptian singer Shireen Ahmad is scheduled to head to Dubai, where it has been confirmed that she will take part in the launching of the new Arab satellite television channel Infinity. The singer had turned down an offer to host a concert in Tunisia at the same time, which was presented to her by one of the magazines that plans on honoring a number of Arab artists.
Egyptian director Sharif Sabri, who discovered Egyptian singing sensation Ruby, is one of the key shareholders of the new television channel. The director is currently looking for new young female Egyptian television broadcasters who enjoy certain characteristics for the new channel, will be launched officially in October. Sharif will be in charge of the channel’s Egypt office, where the main headquarters are in the Dubai Media City, reported the London based Elaph.
On a different note, Shireen has announced that she will not concern herself with the lawsuit filed against her by her former producer, Hamdi Ahmad, and will leave the matter to her personal lawyer to handle. The singer stressed that she is currently too busy with her new album to think about such cases or worry herself about the lawsuit.
A Cairo court has released a verdict ordering Shireen to pay a fine of one million Egyptian pounds to retired singer and producer Hamdi, who also founded the band Masrawieh and owner of Cassette Company. Ahmad had instituted legal proceedings against Shireen accusing her of not fulfilling the terms of a contract singed between them. Ahmed was the first one to discover her talent and produced her fist album sponsoring all her work until she was well known.
According to the London based Elaph, Shireen rewarded him by signing with another production company ignoring him totally. Ahmed filed the lawsuit against her demanding she pay a penalty and another million EGP as compensation to all his financial and emotional loss. -Albawaba.com
