Prominent Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi has requested that director Amr Abdul Aziz postpone filming the scenes of his upcoming television drama “Al Sharid”, to allow him time to make a number of private visits to multiple psychiatrists.
Hussein explained that he wants to gain first hand knowledge about Alzheimer's disease and its effects on the behavior of patients in order to prepare for his upcoming role. The drama, written by Mahdi Yousif and directed by Omar Abdul Aziz, will be filmed at the Media Production City.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Hussein revealed that he will be playing the role of a politician, who works for a non-governmental organization that specializes in solving international disputes. Throughout the course of events he is sent to Africa as a representative to help resolve a dispute between different tribes and is subsequently taken hostage.
Hussein is later freed with the help of the NGO, but is found to be suffering from a psychological disorder that leads to memory loss. Sadly, all attempts to restore his mental capacities fail. The drama will be shot in Egypt, Holland, the USA, and in Southern Africa.
On a different note, police officials in Cairo interrogated Hussein for verbally assaulting a police officer, while driving in his car. The police officer filed a complaint against the actor claiming Hussein intentionally tailgated his police car and began cursing at him when he attempted to stop him.
When the officer filed the report against the license plate it appeared that the car belonged to Hussein. The actor denied all allegations and was immediately set free due to his profession and star status.
