Houses Are Secrets: Social Drama on Woman Strife

The series entitled Houses Are Secrets by the Syrian director A’laddin Kokash, scripted by Rania Ahmed Bitar and based on a novel by Fadhel al Sibae’i tackles social issues through a romantic love story sets in the fifties and sixties. 

The series tackles the Syrian family problems, its circumstances, dreams and aspirations through the story of a woman whose husband dies leaving her with four daughters and a baby. She decides to play the role of the father and bear the responsibilities, which aggravate her suffering, and challenges in an attempt to protect her family from the difficult social circumstances surrounding them. She decides to work as a tailor in order to support her children 

Participating in performance are Jiana Obaid, Omar Hajjo, Yara Sabri, Laila Jaber, Tharaa Dibsi and Samar Kokash. 

“The woman’s character in the series resembles us as she is a romantic and mature human being. The problems she faces are like the ones we face continuously in addition to the fact that this model represents the woman suffering and strife and her sacrifices with everything for the purpose of raising her children,” the screenwriter Bitar told the UAE daily al Bayan—Albawaba.com
