If YouTube figures are anything to go by, the people like what they've seen so far on the Ramadan television drama, "Girls' Stories". As most downloaded show, “Hekayat Banat” (Girls' Stories) scored its millionth download according to a recent reading.

Not reinventing the wheel

The success of girl-themed soap opera comes on the back of hit-show "Sabaya" (Young Ladies). So it's more of the same with a different set of young chicks, this time in Girl Stories.

The news of good ratings brought good tidings to those involved. It was a pleasant surprise for the cast and crew of the drama, who felt rewarded for all the hard work they put into making the TV success. The viewers tuning into these stories of Arab girls are dispersed between the satellite channels beaming out for the holy month TV schedule, including ART, MBC and Dream Hekayat.

The theme song for the drama came with a stamp of popular promise: Lebanese 'Britney Spears' singer Nancy Ajram supported the show with the song “Sikak AL Banat” (Paths of the Girls). The song itself did just as well - independently one of the most downloaded songs over the internet, adding another success tag to the TV high flyer.

Producer of Girls' Stories Tareq Al Janini said that these internet ratings mean a lot to the cast and crew because they reflect the actual opinions of viewers. And what the people want, the people get, is the vibe of the Arab world!
