The chairman of Egyptian TV’s Economic Department, Medhat Zaki, has agreed to allocate 4 million pounds for the production of the series “Rajol Fi Zaman Alawlamah” (Man in the Time of Globalization), which is scheduled to be screened next Ramadan.
The series, the first drama of its type, deals with the weighty topic of globalization and its impact on the Egyptian public.
The series composer and director, Issam Al Shamma', told Al Sharq Al Awsat daily that there will be 15 episodes. The stars slated to perform in the series, which will be shot early next month, include Salah Assaadani, Jihan Fadhel and Fathi Abdul Wahhab.
“The series starts from the day of Sharon’s heavily guarded visit to Jerusalem and the eruption of the Palestinian Intifada as a result of this visit…episodes cover the events of one year and deal with globalization’s impact on the Egyptian public,” said the director.
“I consider the series a revolution in TV drama for its serious issues, views, actions and characters,” Shamma’ added.
The series “Almuhariboon” (Warriors), starring Khaled Al Sawi, Abeer Sabri and Jihan Fadhel, is the only previous experience in TV drama for Issam Shamma’ -- Albawaba.com
