Egyptian actress Hala Sidqi stated that routine procedures have delayed her trip to Algeria where she will be going to participate in the Wahran Arab Film Festival as a member on the judging committee. Previously, Hala had decided to not take part in the festival after a campaign was launched against her on the social network Facebook calling to boycott her.

According to the internet website MBC.net, Hala stated that she has changed her mind about participating in the festival and will be in Algeria once routine travel documents and procedures are complete. She stressed that she will defy all campaigns against her and will be an active member of the judging committee.

Hala stated that until her travel documents are ready, she will be tying loose ends at home.

The actress revealed that the reason behind her change in decision is the fact that she had sent the organizing committee of the festival an apology letter for not being able to participate, but the committee refused her withdrawal and stressed she must be one of the judges. Hala considered that the committee’s position is very honoring and that she must not let them down despite any campaign.

A number of Algerian Facebook members had launched a campaign calling to boycott Hala due to her position during the Umm Darman soccer game between Egypt and Algeria that led to severe political disputes between the two countries.
