Kuwait Wednesday made big celebration marking the launch of Hala February Festival which will be this year under the banner Helwa Ya Kuwait (Lovely Kuwait).
The festival which will continue until February 18, 2002, will be inaugurated with the national operetta Hilwa Ya Kuwait (Lovely Kuwait) written by musical poet Ahmed al Sharqawi and in which a number of singers take part, according to the Kuwaiti daily al Watan.
The operetta includes an interpretive show to be performed by the Kuwaiti artist Hayat al Fahed. This performance constitutes rhythmic poetry words that express love for Kuwait. It will be followed by a musical show entitled Habibati Ya Kuwait (Kuwait My Love) sung by Abdel Karim Abdel Qader and Ghirrid al Shate’ and composed by Suleiman al Mulla.
Another interpretive show will follow by the singer Zahra al Khazraji and Khaled al Braiki which is just poems about the future of the country. This will be followed by another musical show entitled al Tafaol (Optimism), composed by Abdulla al Quood and sung by a number of young singers including Maram and Naser al Raghib in collaboration with the Emirati singer Fayez al Said and female singer Samar.
The renowned Kuwaiti actor Daoud Hussein will participate in the festival with an interpretive show about the importance of the month of February in the history of Kuwait. Singer Mohammed al Baloushi, Fawwaz al Raghib and Abdel Qader al Hadhoud will follow with their musical show Hala Fibrayer (welcome February) composed by Fahed al Naser.
The organizing committee of the festival which has been held in Kuwait annually since 1999 announced that the festival would include this year economic, cultural and entertainment activities which would continue for a month. Two weeks ago the committee announced officially that this year’s program would include a concert for the Saudi singer Abdel Rabb Edris and Egyptian singer Ehab Tawfiq in addition to the Tunisian singers Thekra and Saber al Rebaei -- Albawaba.com
