It's been a bad week for Lebanese superstar Haifa Wehbe: just yesterday she released a statement saying that she and her hubby of four years, Egyptian businessman Ahmad Abu Hashima, are separating. But every cloud has a silver lining and the starlet is sure to be pleased to have received a public apology from Al Diyar News, putting an end to a month-long feud.
Al Diyar got on the wrong side of the feisty starlet at the beginning of last month after publishing reported details of her relationship with the King of Bahrain. The paper claimed that the King had shelled out for Haifa to give a private eight hour performance at his palace.
And the rumors didn't stop there: they also suggested that he gave the Levantine beauty a gold map of Bahrain worth $2 million and an invitation to spend a two week holiday on his royal yacht.
When Haifa got wind of the rumors she hit out with an angry tweet: “All that was written in the Lebanese newspaper Al Diyar News is mere lies that are a fabrication from the imagination of people who have nothing better to do with their time. For I do not know any of the figures they stated in the reports, and I have taken the necessary legal procedures to prosecute those responsible for creating such lies.”
Now, after a long standoff, the paper has finally responded and it seems they are eating their words. In a public apology to the star, the paper admitted that the story had been untrue. They said: "The person who had given us the fabricated news to publish has caused us great embarrassment and we have stopped all work with that individual, who is no longer one of our sources."
And, in a bid cool icy relations with the songstress, they went on to say: "We want to assure you that we hold great respect to you and your career and we are big fans of yours and promise to never again publish any news about you unless it is verified by you personally“
The Arab world's most formidable star is sure to be pleased with this triumph.
