During Eid al Adhha holiday the first three-dimension film was screened in the Iraqi capital Baghdad in an attempt to revive the cinema industry, which faced technological deterioration over the past 10 years.
The Iraqi cinema department chose the state owned Mansour Ciunema Hall to start the three-dimension screening of films.
“We have decided to restore life to the al Mansour Film screening Venue in order to make it the venue of the Iraqi family and it will be provided with modern movies. We will focus on the three dimension films which feature unique scenes,” Faisal al Abbasi, an Iraqi cinema technician told the daily al Hayat.
The Iraqi public received the new experience with astonishment after suffering from the cinema industry collapse. This is due to the fact that a new film for Iraqis means that it is three or four years old.
Going to the cinema has become limited to males in view of the fact that most films are focusing nowadays on satisfying body whims which has kept Iraqi families away. These families used to seek cinema as a means of entertainment and benefit.
Azhar Uraibi, Iraqi employee, described her return to see movies at the screening venues as “an enjoyable and sweet experience”. However She said, “the most important thing is that the film screening should continue as we have witnessed the halt of beautiful and enjoyable things.”
