The First International Festival of TV Productions of Islamic Countries opened Monday in Tehran. Directors of Islamic countries’ TV networks are taking part.
Mahmud Moqimi, the festival secretary, told Tehran Times that 33 TV networks from 21 Islamic countries are presenting their productions.
He stated that the productions were examined by experts from the Islamic Republic of Iran
Broadcasting (IRIB) and then passed on to the festival jury, which consists of representatives of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Syria, Malaysia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Moqimi added that a special section is devoted to the Palestinian cause and that valuable TV programs on this issue have been submitted to the festival.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ali Larijani, the managing director of IRIB, said that the IRIB proposal to hold the First International Festival of TV Productions of Islamic Countries was ratified at the Fifth Gathering of Information Ministers of Islamic Countries in Tehran.
He said that the main objectives of the festival are promoting cultural exchanges, identifying the existing TV production capabilities of Islamic countries, and paving the way for joint productions.
He stated that the affinities and unity of Islamic states far outweighs their differences, so if the TV networks of these states come together they should be able to materialize the aspirations of great Islamic reformers such as Seyed Jamal Asad Abadi, Mohammad Abdoh, Imam Khomeini, and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, to revive the glorious Islamic civilization.
The IRIB managing director stated that his organization is interested in producing TV programs on the crucial issue of Palestine in cooperation with other Islamic countries.
Larijani said that the festival provides the opportunity for exchanging views and coordinating the activities of TV networks of The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) members.
He concluded by saying that the festival should act as a preliminary step toward more dynamic, effective and fruitful cooperation in the future – Albawaba.com
