Lebanese singer Rida Boutros has stopped working on her new album in the wake of her father’s death from a heart attack last week, according to thisiscyberia.com.
The new recordings would have been Rida’s first solo album since her sister Nina got married and abandoned singing by moving abroad to focus on family life.
Sisters Nina and Rida were a very successful duo and carved out an excellent reputation throughout the Arab world starting in the mid-1990s with songs like Al Baladi Al Baladi Bass (Only the Villager), Mina’ateb Ya Asmar (We Blame the Dark and Handsome) and Bakkir Al Bawsi (It’s Too Early for a Kiss).
Last month, Rida tried to get used to the idea of singing without her sister by touring several Arab countries, including Egypt, United Arab Emirates and Jordan.
Her upcoming album is said to contain music from Georges Merdorossian and Boudi Naoum, and Rida is expected to start recording again some time in July – Albawaba.com
