The Moroccan City of Fas will host the eighth session of Fas Festival for Ancient Music during the period between May 31-June 8 under the banner “Discovery of Wisdom Voices to Enhance Dialogue and contiguity Between People”.
“The festival’s eighth session will come under this banner because the festival sheds light on the history of humanity and constitutes a junction where the springs of the human wealth meet,” the London-based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat cited the festival head, Mohammed al Qibaj as saying.
He hailed the UN for selecting Fas Festival in 2001 from 12 international festival because it contributes significantly to spreading peace worldwide through holding dialogue between the various civilizations.
“If Daphos forum constituted an opportunity to defend the economic dimension of globalization and if Puerto Eligri Meeting constituted a platform for defending the social aspects, Fas Festival would provide an opportunity for the spiritual and cultural aspect so that the religious part will become a space for understanding,” said al Qibaj.
The festival’s program includes the organization of art cafes, expos and film screening in addition to activities targeting children. This is apart from the participation of a number of international artists including Barbara Hendricks from the US, Wadi al Saafi and Farida Haj from Lebanon, Sabah Fakhri from Syria, Dimi bint Abbas from Mauritania, Saad al Timsmani from Morocco, Katya Giriro from Portugal and Kadsy Ergoner from Turkey.
