Lebanese singer Elissa recently arrived in Cairo to begin preparations for her upcoming album, despite numerous campaigns calling to ban her from Egypt.
Elissa said in a statement released on the social network Twitter that she has arrived in Cairo, one her favorite places. She also said that she plans to work on her new album and is scheduled to hold a televised interview with an Egyptian channel.
An ongoing social media campaign has called on Egyptians to support banning Elissa from entering Egypt after her statements about the conditions in Egypt after the 25 January Revolution. The campaign also calls for a boycott of Elissa’s music.
