Egyptian actress Suhair al Murshidi is currently gearing up for an art project that will tackle the Palestinian issue and current developments and their impacts on the Egyptian, Arab and world public opinion.
“The Egyptian society and the Arab society in general have enough hot developments which can upgrade the Egyptian cinema to reach the international levels if we can exploit them in drama well,” Murshidi told the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
She added, “I am currently embarking on studying an art project that tackles the Palestinian issue and the developments in the Egyptian, Arab and world public opinion. I am fully confident that art has an effective role in all the issues that concern public opinion and affect the Arab national.”
Murshidi believes that “the Egyptian art needs high standard culture and exploration to reach the international levels. This does not only require search in the culture of the world around us but also the immerse deeply inside ourselves as Egyptians and Arabs in order to reach the international level and maintain them through high tactics. This is not difficult to achieve particularly in view of the fact that we have good and qualified manpower. It is not a shame if we have to import wardrobes, lighting and all the needed technology from other countries but the most important thing is to maintain our special values as Egyptians and Arabs and highlight them in front of the world.”
She added, “when we search for good content, we find the marvelous contents from Naguib Mahfouz who penetrated deeply inside the Egyptians and the society’s web. His concerns about his people have taken him to the international arena, which honored him with Nobel Prize.” -- Albawaba.com
