An Egyptian source in the judiciary branch says a number of Egyptian artists have filed a suit with the prosecutor general accusing Nadia Yusri of murdering the late actress Suad Hosni.
The head of the Artistic Associations Union, Sayyed Radi, its secretary general, Ashraf Zaki, as well as Nadia Lutfi, Suhair Al Murshidi, Samir Sabri and Samira Ahmed filed the case, according to AFP.
One week before her death, the late actress was staying with Yusri at the latter’s apartment on the sixth floor of Stewart Tower in west London.
The Egyptian artists refused to accept the notion that Hosni committed suicide because, they said, she was always optimistic.
The artists pointed to reports that there had been a brawl and screaming 15 minutes before Hosni plunged from the flat’s window.
“The head of the late artist was found almost shaved, and one of her shoes was found in the bathroom and the other at the window, facts that rule out the idea of suicide,” the plaintiffs said.
Meanwhile, an anonymous source told Cairo airport police on Friday that Yusri killed Hosni to steal her jewelry and memoirs.
Commenting on Yusri’s acocunt of Hosni’s alleged suicide, the late artist’s brother, Ezz Eddin Hosni, said that “if she said so, she has also told many stories. I believe that she is psychologically confused.”
Yusri, the late artist’s friend, works as a hostess at the Sheraton Hotel in London.
She left Egypt in 1973 after her divorce, which reportedly caused her emotional distress, and worked for a computer company in London.
