Various Egyptian actors and actresses, who have been a constant in the Ramadan series lineup, have decided to sit it out this year. In an interview with Al Masa’a newspaper, some of the most famous names explain their reasons for taking on the ‘viewers’ role this season.

Nour El Sharif: I preferred to rest this year and watch what is presented on the small screen; be it drama or comedy. I was very scared of becoming repetitive, which is something I have been able to avoid so far. I am also the kind of person, who is very cautious about my success, and I fear for it, and so I do not run after any work, just for work’s sake.

Meanwhile, Sharif’s actress wife, Poussy has given way in this year’s Alf Laila Wa Laila in favor of her fellow actress Nelly.

Poussy: During the past two years, I played Shahrazad in a way that made me happy and with a lot of effort. But I saw fit, this year, to give the opportunity to another one of my colleagues; since each actress presents Shahrazad in a different light. I see that I presented her in a novel way, which holds my own style; but it is difficult for me to remain in one role for three years. I was afraid that I would become bored and this would definitely reflect on my performance.

Sharihan: I was supposed to go back to Fawazeer Ramadan (Ramadan’s Riddles) this year, but it was too late and I cannot come back to my beloved audience with a piece of work that is done fast and hasty.

Therefore, I promise to return to my fans in the next season of Ramadan.

Meanwhile, actor Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, who has dissapeared from the small screen ever since his successful series, Ra’afat Al Haggan, was nominated for the series Awan El Ward (Time For Flowers), alongside Yusra. However, the actor apologized because of his disapproval of the scenario.

Hussein Fahmy’s excuse for this year’s absence, after his successful role in Hawanem Garden City (The Ladies of Garden City) parts I and II, is a hectic schedule due to the Cairo Film Festival, which he chairs. The actor has also singed on to two series, which will air after Ramadan, including Ya Rijal Al Alam Ittahidou II (Men of the World… Unite! II), and Hawanem Garden City III

Other actors, who are not expected in this year’s lineup, include Adel Imam, Salah Abdullah, Leila Elwi, Sabireen and Mirvat Amin. – Albawaba.com.
