The never ending dispute between Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim and her husband Adel Maatouq, owner of the Arab European Record Company, has gone out of control with a new restriction on the singer by the Egyptian Artist Association forbidding any performance to be held in Egypt. The singer had fled to Egypt over a month ago despite a court order by her husband forbidding her to leave Lebanon without his consent due to the fact that she did not abide by a contract that binds her performances to be arranged through Adel's company.
In Egypt, the singer faced prosecution and was held at a police station for two day after a dispute broke out between her and Adel. At this point the Egyptian Artist Association released a decision forbidding her from holding any form of entertainment on Egyptian soil in order to steer away from falling into legal lawsuits with Adel's company, reported the London based Elaph. The decision stated that no party is to hold any form of agreement with the singer in any way, for she is forbidden to work in Egypt due to the fact that she only holds a visitor's visa and not a working permit. In addition to the fact that anyone who does not abide by the new order shall face criminal prosecution.
Previously it was revealed that Tamim will be holding a tour around the United States of America and Canada in September of this year, but an unexpected problem aroused that may prevent the singer from going anywhere. The Company, which is owned by Maatouk, said that the singer will not be holding any performances unless they approve since Suzan is tied to a contract with them.
The company stressed that the agreement states that any concerts Suzan holds outside the terms of the contract, are considered to be illegal. They also added that if Suzan is to hold any performances in the US or Canada, they must be organized by their representative there.
After an absence that has lasted for some time, Tamim has been trying to make a strong comeback by holding concerts worldwide. The singer feels that the best way to make up to her audience for time lost, is by holding a number of performances whether in Lebanon or outside of it. Suzan's schedule for the summer is practically booked until the end of September.
Suzan has expressed that despite the many problems she is currently facing with the lawsuits from her previous production company, she will not let it interfere in her summer's activity.
A court notice had been sent to all Arab local and satellite television and radio stations requesting them not to air any songs for Tamim. No station is to broadcast any of Tamim's song due to a contract previously signed by the singer and her former production company that is run by her ex-husband Adel Ma'touk.
The contract clearly states that unless the production gives right and permission, no station is to air or broadcast any of Suzan's songs. It was added that for the time being the company has made a court order banning any songs for Suzan to go on air.
Countless efforts made by close contacts to make amends between Suzan Tamim and Ma'touk have proven to be of no use as the two refuse to call a truce and solve their differences. Ma'touk recently released a court order against Suzan forbidding her from leaving Lebanon and demands that everyone who attempts to interfere be prosecuted. – Albawaba.com
