The general assembly of the actors’ associations, under the chairmanship of Yousef Shaaban, has unanimously voted against accepting belly dancers as members in the body, according to the Qatari newspaper Al Rayah.
Belly dancers were demanding that a branch of their profession be set as part of the association.
Meanwhile, the association decided in its last meeting, which was attended by 50 members, that any member who is proved to be involved in “moral issues” of defamation. This dismissal should only take place after the proof of corruption and the issuance of a verdict by the court against the member, they agreed.
