Egyptian pop singer Hakim was spurred to postpone shooting his film California-Embabah until finding a relevant director following the accusation of the original film director in a drug case and his detention recently.
Hakim told the London-based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat that he was intending to begin shooting his film in the middle of July in order to be ready for screening during the forthcoming Fitr feast particularly in view of the decision taken regarding the nomination of the cast, but the incidental problem the director faced hindered the project.
Costarring in the film along with Hakim, are Yasmin Abdel Aziz, Amira Fathi and Ahmed Hilmi.
He said that a hefty budget exceeding four million pounds was allocated for the project and added that he has succeeded in convincing the pop singer Ahmed Adawiyyah to appear in some of the film’s scenes which tackle the dreams of the Egyptian youth to travel to America -- Albawaba.com
