Egyptian belly dancer Dina’s love for surprises and sudden announcement has gained her more popularity and coverage than can be imagined. Her first real appearance in the spotlight was during her involvement in a pornographic scandal with ex-husband Hussam Abu El Fotooh that covered all tabloids, newspapers, and television stations. The dancer had caused such a riot and chaos leading to an almost daily coverage of her every step and public appearance.
Her second shock to people was when she decided to complete the fifth pillar of Islam (Hajj) as a way to escape from the problems and humility that surrounded her as a result of the pornographic scandal. Before leaving to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage, Dina had announced that she is seriously thinking of quitting her career and wearing the Islamic headdress (Hijab).
Upon her return, the dancer had in fact quit her job and wore the Hijab and strongly refused to make any televised or public announcement regarding her new decision and refrained from all forms of media communications. She consoled herself at home, turning off her phone and refusing to be contacted by anyone. The only announcement she made at the time was that she refused to jeopardize her religion and her devotion to God by appearing to the public and so began taking intensive religious classes. Dina had added that her new path has nothing to do with the fact that she was involved in a pornographic scandal and rather that she realized that it was time she became religious, reported the London based Elaph.
Her devotion to God and Islam did not last long, when She announced that she took off the Hijab and was to return to her career after attempting to begin a different career in commerce and failing to succeed. Only a week or more after her announcement, she shocked the world by admitting to never wearing the Hijab and that she used to put a scarf on her head as a fashion statement to go with what ever outfit she is wearing. But to her surprise people were not quick to believe that she never wore the Hijab, especially after so many photos were posted and published in different newspapers and magazines of her wearing it.
It was apparent that Dina realized that her fame mellowed down after Hajj and so decided to throw a new bomb and made her latest announcement. The dancer clearly enjoys the fact that she comes in second to war as topics mostly read about.
