A major crisis took place between Egyptian belly dancer and actress Dina and her colleague actress Athar Alhakim while shooting the scenes for the TV drama “Frisca”. Dina was about to shoot one of the scenes wearing a very revealing dress triggering Athar to begin criticizing her appearance.

Athar stressed that she is not comfortable acting alongside someone dressed in such an inappropriate manner, adding that Dina can not shoot the scene wearing the dress she had on.

Dina refused to change the dress saying that it is essential for the part she is performing. Dina added that there is censorship in Egypt and if they felt her appearance is inappropriate they will omit the scenes.

Athar was not convinced and insisted on her opinion. All attempts from director Magdi Ahmed Ali failed to convince Athar that he was the one to decide if the dress was improper or not. Athar left the scene very angry and all efforts failed to make her change her mind.

Endeavors are still on to try to reach mutual grounds so the shooting of the scenes would proceed. The movie revolves around three characters that struggle to succeed in life. Costarring with the two actresses are Tawfiq Abdul Hameed, Hassan Abdul Hameed, Nabil Nour Aldin, Ameera Ala’idi.

Dina is currently in the process of writing a new script for a new film “Raqisat” (Dancers) for the big screen, in which she plans to paint a positive picture of dancers. Dina revealed that she will establish a new production company under the name of “Dina Film” and has already begun doing all the legal paper work for registering it.

Dina announced that “Dancers” will be the fruit of her new company, adding that she had written the basic theme of it two years ago, but no production company agreed to produce it. Dina stressed that she hopes to alter the image of dancers people have. Dina noted that people have such a misconception of dancers that states they are all drug smuggles, head of gangs, and marry in secrecy and are a threat to society.

The events in the film revolve around a respectable dancer who strives to better society through doing good deed. The film’s budget has been estimated to be around 7 million Egyptian pounds.

Dina asserts that belly dancing is the passion of her life, and she will continue dancing until she retires. She added that she had spent lots of time and effort to be a professional, from her early start with the Rida band for Folkloric dancing. She added that belly dancing is an art like folkloric dancing, they all need to learn certain movements but that doesn’t mean that she can’t evolve some dances and moves, as long as you keep the spirit untouched. –Albawaba.com
