Damascus Hosts Italian Women’s Film Fest

The cultural week of the Italian Women’s Film Festival organized by the Italian Cultural Center in Syria will kick off Saturday in collaboration with the Cinema General Corporation. 

On this occasion the center will organize a press conference at al Sham Hotel in Damascus after which the festival will be inaugurated under the auspices of the Syrian Minister of Culture, Najwa Qassab Hassan. 

The festival will begin with screening the film Dominica directed by Filma Labati in presence of the guest of honor director Lina Vertmohler who is considered as one of the most famous and competent film directors in Europe. 

Vertmohler began her artistic career in the fifties on the stage along with the most famous Italian art troupes. After she got acquainted with Fedirico Villini she began her adventure in the cinema world in 1963 as his direction assistant. Then she directed the film Pacilisk which won the Golden Sail Award at lucarno Festival in addition to other 13 international awards.
