Palestinian hip-hop super group, DAM, have a history of rapping about politics, with songs like 'Who's the Terrorist?' and 'Mama, I fell in love with a Jew', but this time they are tackling the issue of women's rights head on.
New single, 'If you go back in time', aims at shedding light on the fate of women who are murdered in the name of 'honor'. Lead singer, Tamer Nafar, told a news conference in Ramallah that he hoped the song would fire up debate on this "very serious issue."
So-called 'honor' killings are still a major problem in Palestine with 11 West Bank women killed by their relatives in the last ten months alone. Sreda Hussein, Director General of Women's Affairs in Palestine said she thought DAM's video was a great way to bring about change.
The song was launched in collaboration with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.
