Court orders Shireen Ahmad to pay a fine of one million EGP

A Cairo court has released a verdict ordering Egyptian singer Shireen Ahmad to pay a fine of one million Egyptian pounds to retired singer and producer Hamdi Ahmad, who also founded the band Masrawieh and owner of Cassette Company. Ahmad had instituted legal proceedings against Shireen accusing her of not fulfilling the terms of a contract singed between them. Ahmed was the first one to discover her talent and produced her fist album sponsoring all her work until she was well known. 

 

According to the Kuwaiti based daily, Al Watan, Shireen rewarded him by signing with another production company ignoring him totally. Ahmed filed the lawsuit against her demanding she pay a penalty and another million EGP as compensation to all his financial and emotional loss according to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper. 

 

Ahmed also warned the Egyptian musicians association to take all legal actions against Shireen according to his lawsuit, the thing that means canceling her membership from the association.  

 

Shireen has stressed that she refuses to waste her time listening to rumors of her sudden breakup with fiancé Issam, and insists on focusing only on her career. The singer had been working extensively for long hours in order to complete her upcoming new album for the year 2005, and has in fact recorded five out of eight songs from the album.  

 

Shireen’s producer, Nasr Mahrous, is purposely trying to be secretive regarding Shireen’s new album, wanting it to be a surprise to all her fans. The singer revealed that she has signed a contract to hold four concerts in Australia during the beginning of December, marking the first time throughout her career. Shireen added that before her trip to Australia she will head to Canada where she is also scheduled to hold a number of concerts there.  

 

Shireen revealed that she is preparing for a new surprise for her fans after succeeding in directing various video clips. Shireen announced after she decided to try her luck in TV directing and is currently reading a 33-episode TV drama to direct. Shireen is seriously thinking of directing the television drama and intends on playing the leading role in it. Shireen refused to give further details about the TV drama until she confirms the deal with the production company. -Albawaba.com
