Charges against prominent Egyptian actress Yusra were dropped when she paid a fine of 500 thousand Egyptian pounds in overdue taxes, which she owed. A judicial source revealed that Yusra had submitted in 2003 that she took part in three different works instead of four, and had kept secret her actual wage for the role she played in the drama “Malak Rouhi”.
When the Egyptian Tax Commission learnt of what the actress had done, they pressed charges against her demanding that she pays the extra amount owed. according to the London based daily, Al Quds Al Arabi, the total taxes, which the actress paid for the said series amount to 250 thousand Egyptian pounds and an extra 250 thousand for her other works.
The cost of the wardrobe Yusra had for her role in the television drama “Ahlam Adieh” (Ordinary Dreams), which was aired during the holy month f Ramadan exceeded quarter of a million Egyptian pounds. The actress wore 320 different outfits on average 10 for each episode, in addition to the different accessories she matched with them.
The budget for the drama exceeded 320 thousand Egyptian pounds, and Yusra had contributed an additional 65 thousand pounds from her own finances. Yusra justified the exaggerated wardrobe on the fact that her character is one that needs to always be in disguise and appear in different styles.
In the drama Yusra played the role of "Nadia," an uneducated woman from an impoverished neighborhood who uses her good looks to steal from people. Yusra has historically played the roles of educated, righteous women.
The drama was written by young scenarist Mohammad Ashraf and directed by director Majdi Abu Amierieh.
