Hungarian opera singer Jose Carreras performed Wednesday night a concert that will remain reverberating across Beitiddine Palace and its courtyards.
In a silent atmosphere in appreciation for the opera singing, lighting added to the place a special beauty to complete the wonder of the scene, according to the London-based daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The feature included also cool performance by Lebanese soprano Rima al Tawil who had a rare opportunity to perform along with Carreras as the audience became familiarized with the beauty of her voice.
Budapest Concerto Orchestra which is considered the top Hungarian troupe accompanied the two singers in the concert and was led by Maestro David Gimenez known for leading international music troupes in London, Paris and Tokyo.
Carreras held a press conference upon arrival at Beirut international airport Monday and then went to the American University’s Saint Jude Cancer Center for Children.
Carreras was treated successfully for cancer and since 1998 he has been dedicating himself as a chairman of Jose Carreras International Leukemia Society which he looks after with all his capability. He has been visiting children cancer centers worldwide.
About two years ago Carreras visited Lebanon where he visited al Maqased for Cancer Diseases at that time. One of his travelling rituals is to visit a cancer center in the country he visits in addition to extending donations and help for the patients plagued with this disease -- Albawaba.com
