Syrian singer Asalah Nasri had received a number of offers by producers and directers for roles in films and TV series. The singer refused all offers to act saying her number one priority is to her singing career.
According to the Egyptian weekly, Al Nojoom, the singer had taken part in a Syrian TV drama in the past and was not very successful determining her lack of talent in acting. At that time the singer had made her decision not to include acting as part of her quest to stardom, saying her voice is all she needs to reach the hearts of people.
Asalah recently completed the recording of her new album that includes a variety of genres. She had been working with prominent composer Salah Al Sharnoubi, who presented four of his songs to her.
Asalah had recently expressed her fury and anger at Lebanese director Simon Asmar for declaring Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi as the number one Arab star of today. Asalah added that the directed over exaggerated and his opinion hurts the image of all female Arab singers.
Asalah also noted that she hopes to sing a duet with Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker, feeling that the mixture of their voices creates an extraordinary combination. She also said that she feels that Egyptian singer Amr Diab is the most popular Arab singer today.
Her new album will feature a collection of songs written and composed by prominent men in the music industry. Asalah Nasri, the daughter of the well-known singer, Mustafa Nasri, began her singing career at the age of nine focusing on national and children’ songs. Her quick rise to stardom dates from her early television appearances, the first of which was on the Lebanese TV program “Stars” produced by Jordanian Hasib Yousef.
